Hi There

It's conference week - Katie, Matt and I are at the ASFA Conference so hope to see you there! Don't forget to come along to my session on the impact of menopause on retirement savings - tomorrow at 11:45am.

On a different topic, as you know Cbus are in the news for all the wrong reasons. I saw Wayne Swan (Cbus Chair) present at the recent AFR Wealth Summit. He came out swinging and was absolutely unrepentant. Not a good look if you ask me.

And now it's spilling over into bad press about insurance being cancelled (because the member was inactive). Which got me thinking about whether we (the industry) did enough when PMIF/YFYS were implemented. I mean, every fund sent the obligatory letters, but as it says in the article, the person impacted had been a member for 20 years and no-one called or tried any other method of communication. Sad indictment or indication that it 'was almost too much just to follow the letter of the law so of course we didn't have time to think about doing anything extra/above'? You decide.

Cheers

Sarah

THE STRUCTURE OF A GREAT SPEECH

Speech

Whilst I may be moderating a panel of speakers at the ASFA Conference, it is always useful to pick up some tips on how to deliver a fantastic speech.

This HBR Ideacast is definitely worth a listen -  a conversation with former Obama speechwriter Terry Szuplat on commanding an audience, no matter the size.
