Hi There

Another week with lots in the news! The recent introduction of tariffs by Trump is of course impacting superannuation balances. The S&P/ASX 200 index lost $34 billion in value after a $25 billion drop on Tuesday. We found a good summary of the issues for pre-retirees/retirees in the SMH. Feel free to send it to anyone you know who's looking a bit worried.

In other news, we had a great turnout at the ASFA National Legislation Discussion Group on Monday with guest speaker Jon Ireland, discussing investment governance. A couple of key points I took away - funds need a standard approach/policy for private capital to make sure all the basics are covered, and there's quite a lot of dry powder (funds ear-marked for investment but not actually invested) so private markets won't be cooling down any time soon.

And finally, for something different, a deep dive from McKinsey & Company into how AI could be used to improve employee management and engagement. Even if you only manage a couple of people or even just yourself, it's fascinating to see what the 'HR of the future' could look like.

Cheers

Sarah
