Hi There

Thought for this week - are you asking the right questions?

It's easy when we are all so busy to just deal with whatever is in front of you, and not stand back. But standing back is where the real gold is. Here is a great example:

On Friday last week, I moderated a panel discussion about member services. One of the questions was around the government's focus on super admin in the last few years. Instead of just dealing with the issues in front of us (like death and insurance claims)  Alison Bodinnar rang Stephen Jones and asked him where the focus came from and what it means for the industry. He told her that the ASIC death claims review is just an example, not the whole issue. Yikes. So there's more coming, and we should be prepared.

In the same panel, Brendan Daly spoke about being told that a new product launch would take 18 months. But when he started asking questions and challenging assumptions, it turned out it was possible to be in market in 12 weeks. Quite a different outcome.

So that's my thought for the week - where could you step back and ask a different question? Who knows what answers you might find!

Sarah
