Whoops it's Thursday! But still lots to talk about - opportunity cost, 3 lines of assurance, NPP and payday super, plus all the news, views and events you need in this crazy finserv world of ours.
It's Thursday. Not Wednesday. Why is the newsletter going out today you ask? Well, that's because Deb is on holidays and without her organising me, I'm prone to forgetting things!! (Despite multiple reminders from her plus the drafts for the next 5 weeks all done and sitting in the folder!)
So, this week's missive is an ode to all the people helping behind the scenes to keep the wheels turning. Whether it's someone at work, or someone at home, or both.
In fact, one of the worst trends over the last 20 years in 'workplace management' has been removing many of the PA/EA roles. It's an absolute false economy, as you just end up with highly paid executives spending way too much of their time being their own secretary. Which then means they don't have time to do the thing they are being pad the big bucks for.
Opportunity cost is one of the least understood but most important concepts in economics and I wish we discussed it more.
