Key takeaways from ASFA Conf, member engagement. Sorry, it's all about super this week!

 Hi There

The ASFA Conference last week was fantastic - despite my complaints about the cost. Key takeaways as promised:

  • APRA still not happy (no surprise)
  • The opposition doesn't have any super policy (also, sadly, no surprise)
  • DBFO tranche 2 still a while away (very frustrating - stop tinkering Mulino and get on with it!)
  • The expectations of funds from retired members is SO different to pre-retirement. Which brings me to...

Should we have completely separate funds for retirees. I know, it's not going to happen. But it's worth thinking about. If we did have a fund that was JUST for retirees, what would that look like? We all know, it wouldn't look anything like an accum fund. It would be much more multi-disciplinary, more 'person' rather than 'investment' focused. Maybe someone will start one?!? And speaking of person focused...

Today I am chairing Day 2 of the inaugural Engage 2025: Member Engagement, Communications and Experience Conference. There are some stellar sessions and I'll bring you some new ideas/things to consider for next year in next week's newsletter.

Finally our last CREW webinar for the year is tomorrow plus our PDS Managers roundtables in-person events in both Melbourne and Sydney are nearly here! Please do consider coming along, it's a great way to meet people in a relaxed environment. Details below plus all the latest news and views.

Regards
Sarah
