The ENGAGE 2025 Conference last week was a great success with some fantastic speakers and topics discussed. Here are some key takeaways from the conference:
* Vast under communication to members. Panels and live data show most pre-retirees still rarely hear from their funds - regular newsletters are non-existent in most funds, annual statements roll around once a year and AMMs get a single invite. Fear of "over-communicating" is clearly misplaced!
* Demand for better personalisation. Lots of discussion at ENGAGE 2025 as to how best to leverage data (demographics, psychographics, preferences) to make content actually relevant to the right life stage.
* Missed opportunities in content distribution. Most funds put webinars and deep dives on websites but members aren’t being pushed to see them later. Re-purposing what already exists for greater impact makes marketing dollars and hours go a lot further.
* Technology for real transformation. AI, automation and 'agentic agents' are showing up, but PDFs pretending to be 'digital transformation' are still everywhere. Ditching forms for end-to-end digital claims could save money and finally make the member experience painless.
* Everyone's still talking about the mountain of personalisation and digital experience, but for most super funds, we're barely at base camp. Fundamentals such as timely email, accessible content and responsive onboarding are what people need now.
We also hosted an interesting CREW webinar last week on Death Benefit Claims and Personal Estate Planning, featuring expert insights from guest speakers Sarah Poole and Ben Darlow (estateXchange) and Emma Woolley (Hall & Willcox). See our latest blog for the summary on Death Benefit Claims. Details below plus all the latest news and views.
