Monday's market chaos made me reflect on the need to over-communicate when the proverbial hits the fan. All those ideas about 'time in' the market, not 'timing' the market etc. really come into their own when there's panic in the air.
Don't leave people to do their own research, it generally doesn't work out so well!

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
When I met Jenny Calcott, our Operations Director, I had that immediate “OMG, you are just the person I need!” feeling. After 25+ years in advertising, the move into PDS and product management wasn’t a career leap so much as a costume change.
In Jenny's first blog for Mayflower, she unpacks how those worlds collide and what they teach us about getting complex work out the door, through a thicket of stakeholders, on a fixed deadline. Read the blog here.

They also explore what needs to change to make the process faster, clearer and more compassionate.

PRODUCT GOVERNANCE
Most product governance frameworks are a bit like a duck - serene on the surface, paddling furiously underneath. The framework looks fine. The reality of running it - disconnected systems, email approvals, manual version control etc. is another story. When things aren't working, the instinct is to strengthen governance. More committees, more sign-off layers. But in my experience, the framework isn't what's failing. The workflow is. Read more here.
