On Monday we ran a lively ASFA National Discussion Group on Creating a Speak Up Culture, featuring Andrew Brown from Adaptive Cultures. You’ve probably heard the old chestnut, “Don’t come to me with a problem unless you have a solution.” Sounds very no‑nonsense and managerial, doesn’t it?Unfortunately, it’s also very unhelpful. We’ll share why and what to say instead in an upcoming blog. Stay tuned!
Speed is a design problem. When something feels slow, a new tool feels like a solution. But when I look at what's actually slowing product teams down, it's rarely the technology. It's unclear decision rights, controls that sit as bottlenecks instead of checkpoints and process held in people's heads.
You can drop the best workflow platform on top of all of that. It won't fix it. It will just make the dysfunction faster and more visible.
The teams getting real value from technology aren't the ones with the most sophisticated tools. They're the ones who did the harder work first - getting clear on who decides what and what they're actually trying to enable.
If you'd like to have a coffee and discuss what I'm seeing across the industry in this space, drop me a line.
FSCP issues written reprimand over Code breaches, advice failures - Money Management. SP - yes that's right folks, another acronym to learn! This one is the Financial Services and Credit Panel and they look at adviser actions that go against the code of ethics.
Policy uncertainty rattles HNW retirement confidence - Super Review. SP - interesting research. Lots of factors at play. Commissioned by GenLife so not surprisingly they find that certainty is what retirees want, aka the main sales pitch for annuities. But then, they aren't wrong. Certainty would be great! Pity we live in the real world...
In this episode of That Super Show, Sarah Poole and Ben Darlow from estateXchange lift the lid on why death benefit claims are still so painfully manual in 2026 and what that really looks like behind the scenes. They share practical ideas for turning a bureaucratic ordeal into a clearer, kinder, more human experience.
