Our CREW in-person Melbourne event last week was a standout. A warm thank you to our wonderful guest speakers, Sarah Ray (Cbus), Cora Speed and Belinda Worrell (Crown Resorts), for sharing their insights and energy. And a special thanks to the team at Equity Trustees for providing the venue.
Tomorrow, we shift gears to our PDS Managers roundtable, exploring how product managers can best support vulnerable and neurodiverse members with clear, accessible information.Mia Lander will be our guest speaker, and it promises to be a session that is both thought-provoking and practical.
Regards
Sarah

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Our CREW event last week was a lively discussion on the role of women in risk and compliance. One of our panelists, Cora Speed, gives us her key takeaways. As always, an awful lot of good advice in just three bullet points!
A simple test I use when deciding what to push and what to let go: If I push this now, will it change a decision or just prove a point? If it’s just proving a point, I wait.
Use the Trusted Advisor framework to build respect and trust with your internal stakeholders - you want to be the first person they turn to for guidance and advice when they're unsure of something, or something has happened.
Words matter when trying not to pass anxiety down to your team. For example, instead of saying ‘this is a big issue’ try 'here are the three things that matter and what we’re doing next'.
In this episode, Neil and I tackle the Treasury’s proposed clampdown on onboarding advertising, the latest curveball in adviser education and why APRA and the ATO are increasingly uneasy about payday super. We explore whether performance tests are quietly constraining investment innovation in Australia. Subscribe here.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT HIRES
The best product management hire for your team is probably not looking at your job ad! Victoria Butt from Parity Consulting wrote this week's blog on exactly that, and it's worth a read, especially if you're hiring into PDS, communications or product roles in financial services right now. AI can surface a shortlist in minutes, what it can't do is tell you whether someone can hold a narrative under pressure, influence across competing priorities or adapt when the brief shifts.
