Hi There

Good Lord, so much happening this week.

The politicians are at it (again) with the super bashing. Seriously, just stop!

On a more positive note, we had a fantastic CREW webinar yesterday with Jocelyn Furlan speaking on systemic issues. It is clearly a hot topic because we had record registration numbers (300+) and a LOT of questions from the floor. If you're a CREW member and you missed it, look out for the email later this week with a link to the video and slides.

And our latest That Super Show episode (just dropped this morning) is all about using AI and good governance to deliver a much better customer experience.

We've also the latest Parity Consulting salary survey for you (see link below) and lots of news and views.

Lastly, I'm sure a number of you will be tuning in for Daniel Mulino's address at the National Press Club at lunchtime today. We certainly will be, and there'll be an extra podcast episode coming soon as a result.

Phew! And now I need a coffee :)

Cheers

Sarah

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

Superannuation has had another week in the spotlight thanks to One Nation and Senator Bragg. Bragg called super "one of the biggest public policy failures since federation".

But here's the thing, Australia’s public pension spending is 2.3% of GDP, down from 2.8% in 1994-95 and a long way below the OECD average of around 9%.

And while the retirement-age population has grown by almost 50% since 2012, the proportion of Australians aged 65 and over receiving the Age Pension has fallen by 12%.

Put simply, without super, our economy would be in way worse shape than it is.

So it's hardly a policy failure, in fact, quite the reverse!

And yes, yes, of course our system isn't perfect. But let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater?!

WORTH YOUR TIME

That Super Show

In this edition we unravel how a boutique fund found itself at the AI frontier, why most super apps feel like flat white with skim milk and what happens when you let a chatbot talk insurance. Grab your headphones and get ready to rethink advice, jargon and just how daring a super fund can get with a bold tech partner (spoiler: expect less bureaucracy, more innovation). Listen in at thatsuper.show.
